What Examen is not

Examen, the practice of looking for God in the ordinary events of the day, is NOT:

  1. Listing every sin you committed
  2. Guilt inducing
  3. Navel gazing
  4. Seeking other people to blame for a bad day
  5. A to-do list maker
  6. Rehearsing your failures
  7. Long and drawn out

When practiced in healthy ways, examen is a life-giving discipline. Examen can set you free from the oppression of feeling abandoned.
